We’ve talked about how the winter months can be killer on hands and feet, but what about knees and elbows? The skin on our knees and elbows tends to be thicker and does not produce as much natural oil as other parts of our body. This means the skin gets dry more easily, especially when it’s cold out. Here are a few ways to combat dry knees and elbows this winter.

1. Moisturize daily

Keeping your skin hydrated in the winter months is crucial, so make sure you’re moisturizing daily. Even if you don’t do a full body moisturizer every day, make sure you dab a little on the spots that get dry like feet, knees, and elbows.

2. Drink plenty of water

Keeping your body hydrated inside and out is vital for keeping skin soft and moisturized. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water every single day!

3. Exfoliate regularly

Slough off dead skin and keep things nice and soft by exfoliating regularly. Exfoliating gloves or body scrubs are great for smoothing out knees and elbows.

4. Switch your detergent

If your skin is persistently dry, you might want to switch out your detergent for something with less harsh chemicals. Detergents that are heavily fragranced can often be drying and since your knees and elbows have a lot of contact with your clothing it can cause them to become drier.
