Red Hair Extensions

Wearing hair extensions is a great way to add volume to your red hair, get long red hair while waiting for it to grow out, or just change up your look in a nonpermanent way. For redheads, hair extensions can often be a hassle to find and pricier than they would be for blondes and brunettes.

Here are a few of our favorite redhead-approved hair extensions as well as some tips for getting your extensions to look flawlessly natural with your red hair.

Tips for Natural-Looking Red Extensions

  • Use a color matcher to determine which color is the closest to your natural color. Most extension brands have some sort of tool online to do this.
  • Get a recommendation from your stylists. Hairstylists can not only install hair extensions for you, but they may be able to help you order the perfect color and texture to fit your hair.
  • Customize your extensions. If you’re not finding the perfect color, try getting as close as you can and having them customized. This might mean dyeing the extensions and/or your real hair to match. Don’t worry most stylists can do some sort of subtle balayage to help everything blend.
  • Get the hair blended. Although most extensions you can clip in and go, it might not look the best. Take your extensions in to get blended so everything looks natural with your current cut.
