“I did not choose the ginger life, the ginger life chose me.” -Mackenzie
For years, Mackenzie absolutely hated the fact that her hair was unlike all of the blondes and brunettes in her classes. “I won’t say the ginger life has defined me, but it has helped shape me into the person I am today,” she says.
When you look at a photo of her family, one would automatically think she was adopted; given the fact that her brothers and father have brown hair and her mother is a blonde. “Redheads stick out like a sore thumb in almost every picture that has ever been taken,” she says. “Need to even out two blondes in a picture? Put a redhead in the middle.”
Redheads can not go anywhere without someone stopping to tell you how beautiful your hair is. Along with the scarlet hair color comes another ginger reality: the lovely skin tone. Fair, translucent and freckled. Mackenzie believes SPF is your best friend when you live “the ginger life.” She is proud to rock the SPF 90 and loves being a redhead now because everything is unexpected.
