They are not, as some call them, bruises. In fact, they are beautiful additions to the skin and redheads need to take special care of them.

Here are 6 ways to take care of your sensitive, beautiful skin:

1. Look for cleansers, toners, makeup, and moisturizers that are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic.

Cleanse, tone and moisturize with gentle products every single day. Search for products with “clean” ingredients like chamomile, azulene, bisabolol, allantoin, lavender, camphor, calamine, rosemary, thyme, aloe vera etc.

2. Prevent sun damage with the use of sunscreen.

Get into the habit of applying sunscreen or a lotion with a minimum SPF 15 to 30 protection daily. Many do not like to take the time to put on both moisturizer and sunscreen. In fact, many redheads with sensitive skin worry about the oil of the sunscreen clogging up their pours; and that’s why it is essential to find a sunscreen that is not only oil-free but goes on as smooth and light as your mineral powder.

3. Gently cleanse your face.

Don’t clean so much you dry it out. Wash with warm water and rinse with cool.

4. Moisturize morning and night.

Find the right lotion for you. Opt for a lighter moisturizer in the morning and a heavier moisturizer in the evening.

5. Live a healthy lifestyle. 

Eat a healthy diet which includes many fruits and vegetables. Reduce stress when possible. And, drink lots of water.

6. Embrace your skin!
