Uplifting Movies: ‘Good Redhead Vibes Only’ Movie Challenge

Redheads (of course!) are the main characters in the following tv/movie suggestions

Happiness and positivity are in short supply these days, so here are some redhead movies and TV shows to help bring some good vibes your way.

1. Streaming Service: Disney+

Brave

Where are my curly redheads at?! Red curls are simply iconic, and Merida shows us how to embrace them! She is a strong redhead role model who fights for what she wants. Her journey isn’t perfect but that is what makes her story so relatable.

Enchanted

Disney has many redhead main characters in their movie history, but Giselle from Enchanted is one of the most inspiring. When she is faced with unfamiliar territory, she turns it into a fairytale. How could we not be encouraged to do the same thing?

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

What is a redhead, if not a little passionate? This early Lohan film will encourage you to be the star you already are! Redheads were meant for the spotlight and Lohan’s character reminds us how to shine in style.

2. Streaming Service: Amazon Prime

Modern Love

If you haven’t seen this series, pause every other series you are currently watching and start this one immediately! It will melt your heart instantly. And, to top it all off, Anne Hathaway is rockin’ red hair! Can you think of a more perfect combo? There is currently only one season of this heartwarming show, but it is a must-see. There are many iconic actors, but Anne Hathaway takes the cake if not simply for joining the redhead team!

Sixteen Candles

I am sure we can all relate to this movie right now. We are only 3 months into 2020, and it seems the negativity just keeps coming! Sam (Molly Ringwald’s character) proves that in order to see the rainbow, you have to put up with a little rain. Things may seem dim right now, but soon enough the bright colors of spring and summer will shine through again.

3. Streaming Service: Netflix

Virgin River

This series is sure to bring hopefulness back to your heart again. The strawberry-blonde main character Mel, played by Alexandra Breckenridge, goes searching for a new life and a distraction. She finds herself in a small town working as a nurse practitioner. This would, of course, be distraction enough, but a love interest comes along to add even more drama to this new place she calls home.

That 70s Show

If you are looking for a fun, binge-worthy series, look no further. Personally, I love a simple, comedic series; and if a redhead is involved, all the better! This series follows a group of kids in the 70s; specifically a boy, Eric Forman, and his redheaded love interest, Donna Pinciotti. Although Eric is the main character, Donna takes a good portion of the audience’s attention. She is a strong, powerful redhead, and we can’t have enough of those in the world!

Hook

Does anyone else LOVE when Julia Roberts has red hair? In this “oldy but goody”, Julia Roberts plays the feisty pixie, Tinkerbell! Although she is commonly seen as a blonde, I believe Tink was always meant to be a part of our redhead crew. This film is a take on the classic Peter Pan narrative. You’ll see a lot of familiar characters but with a twist. If anything, it will help you find your inner child once again. Remember Neverland is “second star to the right, and straight on till morning”!

We only have room for positivity in these next few weeks. Even though we are all stuck inside, these movies and shows will help you remember to find the good in each and every day. We are all in this together!
