Why Redheads Bruise More Easily

It's because we have a certain skin type

Updated: August 15, 2021

It is said that redheads bruise more easily! And, it’s true. A bruise is caused by an injury/rupture to the tissue beneath the skin and results in skin discoloration. Redheads actually have thinner skin (some call it ‘couperose skin’) which makes bruising more common amongst those with natural red hair.

Redheads, take this advice next time you have a bruise:

1. Vitamin K is said to help with bruising. Opt for the following Vitamin K foods: Spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts, asparagus. Or, choose a supplement or cream from your local drug store*.

2. Want to cover up your bruise? Try a yellow-based concealer if your bruise is blue-violet. Product recommendation: Boo-Boo Cover-Up Concealer

Rock it like a Redhead!

*Please consult your physician before implementing any new diet, exercise and/or supplements and vitamins.
