The Best DIY Exfoliating Trick for Redheads

Using body scrubs is a way to remove dead skin cells and leave skin feeling super soft.

Throughout the “How to be a Redhead” book, we talk about natural remedies if certain products or items cannot be found. When it comes to body scrubs, we typically go the natural DIY route since it’s super easy and dependable; plus, we know it won’t make our sensitive redhead skin breakout.

We are big fans of coffee in scrubs because it’s a natural exfoliant with powerful antioxidants. So, whether you choose to find a scrub with coffee as its main ingredient or make your own, it’s a great ‘go-to’.

Tip: If you happen to have itchy skin after the use of a scrub, try one that is unscented. Itchiness happens when your skin reacts to fragrances in the product.

See below for one of our best DIY coffee exfoliating recipe:

Note: This is gentle enough to use on the face and body and can be used up to 3 times a week, depending on your skin.

1 cup coffee grounds
1/2 cup white or brown sugar
1 cup coconut oil

Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly. After you’ve washed your body (optional: and face), massage the scrub into wet skin for about 60 seconds per area, where you’re targeting cellulite, then rinse with warm water. Tip: It can get messy! Use a tub stopper in your shower while using this scrub, as you’ll need to remove it from your shower and get rid of the waste because it can make your drain clogged.

Rock it like a Redhead!
