6 Summer Tips for Fighting Redhead Frizz

Frizz is a common hair battle amongst redheads!

Updated: November 2nd, 2023

Taming redhead frizz can be frustrating. As the summer hits and humidity rises, our red hair tends to take a beating. Not only are we more susceptible to skin damage from the sun, we also have to be careful about our locks. The sun can cause fading pigment, brittleness and dryness. However, there are a few tips we can use to minimize the frizz, increase hydration, and protect it from any further damage.

1. Always use a cold-water rinse when washing your hair.

This will help seal the hair cuticle and help enhance shine. You can also rinse your hair with carbonated water aka soda water. It has a low pH level that helps reduce frizz.

2. Use a hydrating hair mask once a week to help increase moisture.

The following DIY recipe will help to relax the hair and strengthen weak hair due to the protein content of the coconut.

Coconut Milk and Lime Hair Mask

1 cup coconut milk

1 tablespoon coconut oil (room temp.)

4 tablespoons lime juice

Mix together and apply to your red hair. Cover with a shower cap, let sit it for at least 20 minutes and rinse –– with cool water.

3. Breakup with the hot styling tools.

This can be a tough step for many redheads. It will immensely improve your hair texture and reduce unnecessary frizz.

Can’t bear to part with your beloved straightener? Be sure to use a good heat protector like TRESemmé Heat Tamer Spray to minimize inevitable damage.

4. Use Finally Glossy® Shine & Luminosity Shampoo for Redheads
