Sarah Drew Went Red for Grey’s Anatomy and Many Think It’s Natural

Everyone Thinks Her Kids Got Their Red Hair from Her!

Sarah Drew

Sarah Drew is best known for her role as April Kepner on Grey’s Anatomy. What most people don’t know is that although she is a redhead on the show she is not a redhead by birth. This is something that surprises many fans of the show because the red suits her so well.

Recently Drew sat down with New Beauty to talk all things beauty and of course, about her red hair. In the interview, she explains she was actually born with brown hair and was a brunette for the first 28 years of her life. When she landed the role of April Kepner, the show opted for her to go red for filming

Drew’s own father was a redhead for most of his life before it went white, and her husband’s family is full of redheads. The actress even has two natural redheaded children of her own, and people often think they got their hair color from her. Drew gives all credit to her talented hairstylist Christina Meneses who keeps her red. “Reds are hard to do, and they’re hard to do well, and she kills it every time,” says Sarah about her hair colorist.

Because Drew has redhead children, that means she carries the redhead gene which she obviously got from her father. So even though she doesn’t have naturally red hair herself, it makes sense why red suits her so well. It’s literally in her DNA.

Rock it like a Redhead!
