If you’re like most redheads, mascara is a key item in your makeup bag. Since most redheads have blonde/or very light lashes, mascara is vital. Many hope for longer, thicker lashes. Because, let’s admit it, nothing else shapes the face better — except for eyelashes extensions.

Eyelash extensions are a big trend and for a good reason. When done right, extensions look beautiful. They completely eliminate all need for mascara.

Adrienne & Stephanie, and their mother, Jan, visited The Lash Loft in New York, New York to see what all the fuss was about. When they arrived, with mascara in hand, they planned on getting extensions that [they believed] couldn’t possibly cover their blonde lashes. One of the lash estheticians quickly corrected them saying, “You won’t need mascara after it’s done.”

The other big benefit of extensions is the saving of time. The typical makeup routine is cut in half, or completely wiped away. The lashes provide definition and shape the eye and face.

The bad side? Eyelash extensions can take 2 to 3 hours for the first application, which can run from $150 to $600, depending on your location. Monthly touch-ups range from $50 to about $65. Look for a salon that uses medical-grade adhesive, like the type used to close wounds in lieu of stitches. And, make sure the glue does not contain latex.

Also, because redheads are known to be extremely sensitive, you might be sensitive or allergic to anything in the glue. Call your local lash salon and ask what type of adhesive is used and what the ingredients are. Then she/he can assess whether or not you may be allergic to any of the ingredients.

Regardless of the above, the results are simply stunning. If you’re in the New York area, visit The Lash Loft for an appointment today — you can guarantee the entire salon is ‘redhead friendly’ approved.

Both sisters + mom agree that they would definitely get re-fills of eyelash extensions. “For us, it’s worth getting eyelashes so we can pop out of the bed in the morning and our makeup looks complete,” they say. “It’s great for special occasions, but don’t be mistaken, we will always love our redhead lashes!”

Would you give them a test? If you’ve had them, what is your experience?

Rock it like a Redhead!
