Redheads: Best Orange Lipstick For Your Skin Tone

By: Carmina Alvarez

In case you haven’t noticed, the “it” lipstick color of the season is orange and we are seeing it everywhere! Redheads, don’t be afraid to incorporate it in your redhead makeup choices. Orange comes in all shades, warm peach to a bright coral to bold tangerine.. and nothing expresses the spring season better. The color might be an unconventional color to wear, but it actually brightens up your face and looks very flattering paired with your hair.

But, how do you find the right shade of orange lipstick do you ask? Here are some tips on how to select your ideal hue based on your skin tone:

Porcelain Skin Redheads (Light Complexion): Always lean towards a light (but bold) orange hue such as pastel, tangerine or peach. This way your pale complexion will shine and the orange will give you a pop of color.

Olive Skin Redheads (Medium Complexion): Go for shades that are a little bit darker than your natural lip color. Opt for a vibrant “true” orange hue such as coral or a pumpkin shade.

Cool Skin (pink or red tones): Just like pale skin, opt for coral or peach tones to make you look more natural. If you are leaning towards a shimmery lipstick or a gloss, choose one with white or silver flecks to brighten up your skin.

Warm Skin (yellow, green or golden tones):  Opt for a red/orange or “true orange” shade to flatter your skin. If you are thinking about orange shimmery lipstick or gloss, choose one with gold or try an orange lip stain or lip gloss. The softness of the lip stain and the glossiness of the lip gloss will make the orange shade blend to your natural lip color.

Also, remember to keep the rest of your makeup very simple: a little blush, 2 coats of mascara and slightly smudged black eyeliner. You are good to go!
