The Top Beach Bag Essentials for Redheads

Updated: June 20, 2017

After a winter that seemed like it would never end, summer is finally here! I’ve already started enjoying a cozy beach chair on a stretch of white sand, the blazing sun overhead and crashing waves serving as my soundtrack. One of my favorite parts of planning a beach trip is packing my beach bag.

Here are some of my ‘redhead friendly‘ approved essentials:

1. Sunscreen:

This is a no-brainer! No one should go without sunscreen during a day on the beach, least of all us fair-skinned beauties. I’m always sure to bring along several formulas; I start the day using a lotion to ensure full coverage, then a sunscreen spray for touchups (which is much more pleasant to apply when you’re covered in sand and sweat), one specifically used for the face to avoid breakouts, and a powder for its day-to-night oil-absorbing properties.

2. Hair Oil / Hair Sunscreen:

You put sunscreen on your body, now don’t forget your gorgeous red locks. Spray into your red hair for ultimate protection while at the beach.

3. Lip Balm with SPF:

Your lips are so much more delicate and susceptible to sunburn than the rest of your face, so be sure to protect them too. And reapply liberally.

4. Wide-Brimmed Hat:

Your scalp can burn and your red hair can fade. Always carry a wide-brimmed hat with you wherever you go, especially at the beach.

5. Redhead Hair Ties:

As chic as windblown beach hair can be, it’s also pretty darned hot! Make sure to have some redhead hair ties on hand to secure a quick and easy topknot, and let it down at the end of the day for sexy waves.

6. UPF Clothing:

The Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) rating system measures the UV protection provided by fabric. So, yes, this is clothing made with sunscreen. Opt to bring at least one piece with sleeves to cover your upper half after some time in the sun.

7. Sunglasses:

Light eyes are much more sensitive to the sun’s harmful rays than brown or black eyes. Rock your favorite shades all day long.

8. Water Bottle:

The sun, the wind and the salt are all incredibly drying, so be sure to stay hydrated. Fill up your favorite reusable bottle, toss it in your bag and sip throughout the day.

9. Skin Soother:

Even if you avoided getting sunburned (hooray!), a skin soother is great for refreshing your skin at the end of the day, keeping it soft and smooth. And if you did get sunburned, they’ll help with any pain and peeling, and will speed up the healing process.

10. Mineral Water Spray:

Instantly refresh your redhead skin after hours (or minute) spent in the sun.

11. Captivating Novel:

And, the last thing to bring is a good book. Your bag is never fully packed without good reading material.

Enjoy soaking in that sunshine, redheads. Rock it like a Redhead!
