Spring is allergy season, and along with those allergies comes a host of unwanted issues. A big issue is puffy eyes. Here’s how you can fight puffy eyes this spring and look your best:
1. Use something cold
Getting your puffy eyes to shrink is easiest when you use something cold. Try putting a cold compress or cold washcloth over your eyes for 10-15 minutes to help reduce puffiness. You can also use an ice roller under your eyes if you’re in a hurry. If you don’t have an ice roller, try keeping a clean spoon in your freezer, you can pull it out and place it under the eye when needed. Just make sure to wash it off and place it back in the freezer for use next time.
2. Try tea bags under your eyes
Tea bags are great for reducing puffy eyes. You want to use black or green tea because they have the most caffeine and antioxidants. Simply steep two tea bags as you normally would and then squeeze out the excess liquid. Let them cool and then place them over the eyes for 15-30 minutes.
3. Take an antihistamine*
An obvious way to reduce the signs of allergy swelling and puffiness is to take an antihistamine. This can help to reduce the symptoms you are feeling and help your body return to normal. You can also use allergy-specific eye drops to help reduce irritation.
4. Use caffeine directly under your eyes
Caffeine serums won’t take immediate effect like some other treatments but long-term use of caffeine serums can help to fight under-eye puffiness from allergies. A great redhead-friendly option is The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
*Always consult with your doctor first before using any medication.
