New Products On The Market Are Claiming To Restore Gray Hair to Its Natural Color

Redheads who are fading, would you try this?

slow down graying

We talk to tons of redheads who are struggling with fading hair as they get older. For natural redheads, hair color is a huge part of our identity and it can be hard to let go. We’ve talked about embracing the change and also ways redheads can combat fading or graying hair with products like color-depositing shampoos and hair glosses. But, now there’s something new we’re seeing. There are products that claim to “slow down” the process of graying.

One such product is Arey: To The Root™ Serum. Their website says the product “utilizes our patent-pending, science-backed combination of antioxidants and a clinically-efficacious peptide to slow and re-pigment grey hair while also delivering thicker, fuller, healthier hair with the added benefit of panthenol for increased volume.” But it also states that you can expect “possible re-pigmentation” in 3+ months of use. The product claims to help re-pigmentation through stimulation of the MC1R, which we know is responsible for hair pigmentation. Customers seem to have good reviews of the product, stating that they “have had no reason to color my hair” after one year of use. Another says their gray hairs are growing back to their natural color.

Arey isn’t the only brand selling the idea of being able to re-pigment your hair. HeyHair Root Revival™ Advanced Anti-Gray Hair Serum also claims it can “help prevent premature greying, as well as promote the re-activation of the production of melanin to stimulate the pigmentation of your natural hair color and aid in the growth of healthy hair follicles.” This product also has good reviews with customers stating slowed down graying and overall darker roots.

It’s hard to say how many, if any, of these customers are redheads, but we find this concept to be interesting and a potentially intriguing option for redheads wanting to hold on to their color naturally. One issue we see is that red hair can often fade all over, not just at the root, but it could still be an option for those experiencing gray roots.

While there’s no surefire way to prevent grey hair entirely, some tips for redheads to slow down the greying process include maintaining a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, avoiding harsh chemicals in hair products, protecting hair from sun damage, managing stress levels, and staying hydrated. Additionally, using hair products specifically formulated for color-treated hair can help preserve the vibrancy of red hair for longer.

Another method to potentially slow down the greying of red hair is to avoid excessive heat styling, as high temperatures can damage hair follicles and contribute to premature greying. Additionally, incorporating essential oils like rosemary or peppermint into your hair care routine may help promote scalp health and potentially slow down the greying process. Regular scalp massages can also improve blood circulation, which may support healthy hair growth.

For redheads who are graying, is this something you would try?
