As we prep for spring and summer, it’s important to talk about sunscreen application. Proper use of sunscreen is important for everyone, especially redheads. In the warmer months of the year, we need to start thinking about full-body SPF applications. Applying SPF is usually pretty easy, but there are some tools and tricks that can make it easier and more effective. Here are some of our favorites:
1. Try an SPF back applicator
If you’re headed to the beach or pool and you don’t have a companion with you, it can be hard to make sure your back is protected. Try using an SPF back applicator like a back roller or long-handle sponge applicator. This will ensure your back is protected even if you’re alone.

2. Opt for an SPF stick
Try using an SPF stick to get a mess-free application. SPF sticks are perfect for on the go, for kids, getting the nooks and crannies of the face and on eyelids. It’s even great when you aren’t in the mood to take out all your SPF liquids out and make a mess.

3. Use a makeup brush for kids
Getting babies and kids to sit still while you put on SPF is quite the struggle. Instead of struggling with messy hands, try using a makeup brush to evenly spread the SPF over their skin.
4. Use SPF moisturizer & setting spray
Sun protection doesn’t have to ruin a perfect face of makeup. Instead of spraying your body SPF over your face, try using an SPF moisturizer in combination with an SPF setting spray. Reapply your SPF setting spray every 2 hours to keep the face protected and use it as an opportunity to touch up any makeup that’s run from sweat and heat.

5. Protect your scalp while taming fly-aways
Scalp burn is no fun, so it’s important to protect your scalp, especially at the part. Pull double duty by protecting your scalp and taming flyaways when you use a hair SPF stick or spray.
