If you could travel back in time and give your younger self some advice, what would you say?
New research suggests mulling over this question is a very common human experience. Many therapists have started to use this practice to help their clients. There are probably times in our lives when we wished we could go back and give the younger version of us a pep talk or some words of encouragement. We can’t really go back, but the practice is to reflect and practice being kind to yourself.
Even Oprah Winfrey, 65, thinks about what she’d say: She’d tell her younger self to “relax, stop being afraid” and to believe “everything is going to be alright.”
Many Reels and TikToks are floating around and people are sharing what they would tell themselves when they were young. Lindsay Lohan is following suit and shared a short clip accompanied by questions about when she was young, and her answers now. A few of our favorites center around her red hair and freckles.
Younger Lindsay: “Do I like my red hair?”
Current Lindsay: “Yes, I love my red hair!”
Younger Lindsay: “What about my freckles?”
Current Lindsay: “They use to make me uncomfortable as a kid, but now I realize how beautiful they are.”
The video also features questions about passions Lindsay had as a kid like modeling and dancing as well as questions about her family and life.
This is a powerful practice for redheads because it’s easy to forget what growing up with red hair was really like, especially if you embraced it in adulthood. Being a redhead is such a unique experience and even redhead celebrities, like Lindsay, have to help heal their inner child by learning to love and embrace this unique difference.
