Learn to Master Your Redhead Makeup Routine in Under 5 Minutes

It will probably take you longer to read this...

Updated: September 12th, 2023

There’s nothing worse than running late and having to rush through your redhead makeup routine. We’ve all been there: rushing around our bathrooms getting ready and with only five minutes to spare you throw on some makeup and run out the door.

If you’re like us, you might truly enjoy doing your own redhead makeup. We love trying out new redhead beauty trends and browsing the aisles of beauty stores, discovering a new holy grail product (like Finally Have Brows and Finally Have Lashes), and watching all the beauty vloggers on YouTube. However, you might have to wear pretty minimal makeup on a day-to-day basis, because you just can’t be bothered to wear a full face of makeup for a regular day.

It also feels that much more special when you pull out all the stops for a special occasion.

Thankfully, we’ve mastered the art of the five minute redhead makeup routine after many years of texting friends and family saying, “I am going to be late!”

The key to doing your makeup in five minutes or less (and still looking great) is having a few products that you absolutely love. Instead of rushing, try mastering our 5-minute makeup technique. All of the products mentioned are redhead-approved and trust us, you’ll find yourself reaching for these products when you have time for the full glam.

Once you find your rhythm, not only will you get out the door faster and save time, but the more you practice the more you might come to love this simple, no-fuss look

Prep: Skincare (The clock hasn’t started yet, but give yourself 2 minutes)

Start this look on a clean face that you’ve already prepped with your skincare of choice. We recommend cleansing, toning, applying serums and locking it in with a moisturizer. Then, apply a primer. Let this all sit for at least 1-2 minutes before you go into makeup.

Step 1: Foundation of choice & concealer. Clock: 2 Minutes

You’re going to spend the most time on your skin because that’s where you want to make sure you’ve got good coverage and have blended properly.

For this look, all you’re going to use is a light to a medium-coverage foundation or skin tint and concealer

A great trick to cover under eye bags and blemishes (but save on blending time) is to apply your concealer before your foundation. Apply a thin layer and blend out lightly with a makeup sponge or your fingers, don’t worry about blending the edges. Now go in with your foundation or skin tint and a damp makeup sponge. Spend the majority of your time blending and making sure your foundation looks seamless. If you have oily skin and need setting gently dap a little setting powder in areas that crease or get oily. If not, apply a setting spray after you’ve finished with all cream products.

Step 2: Blush. Clock: 1 Minute

Skip the contour and the bronzer and focus on blush. When you’re wearing a minimal makeup look, heavy/dark products can make your face look muddy. Instead, focus on brightening up the face. When doing a quick makeup look, opt for a neutral blush like coral or a warm pink. These colors will blend nicely into the skin and won’t feel too dramatic with your minimal makeup.

Apply a liquid or powder brush high up on the cheekbone and blend in a “C” shape on the edge of the face towards the brow bone. You can even bring your blush onto the eyelid and under the eye a little to add a pop of brightness.

Step 3: Eyes. Clock: 1 Minute

In a 5-minute makeup routine, there’s no time for shadow and liner. Curl your lashes and keep the eyes simple with a few swipes of mascara. If you want to keep the look simple opt for a brown or auburn color for a more natural look. If you want something more dramatic stick to classic black.

If you wish, spend a few seconds curling your lashes before lightly applying 1-2 coats of mascara. Apply in light, elongating strokes to help lengthen the lashes without making them clumpy. Skip the bottom lashes for the sake of time.
