Julianne Moore’s Guide to Flattering Makeup for Redheads

An Inside Look with Julianne & Vogue

Julianne Moore sat down with Vogue to show her everyday skincare routine and some redhead makeup tricks she’s learned over the years. The full video can be found below or on Vogue’s YouTube, but we wanted to highlight the list of ‘Redhead-Friendly’ products she uses.

Like many of us, Moore’s redhead skincare routine has become more complex each year, and she’s learned some tricks along the way.

How she cleanses & moisturizes her sensitive skin

One trick she loves is ditching the traditional terrycloth washcloth for a true exfoliating cloth. The one she uses is the Vanderohe Sasawashi Body Scrub Towel. Good skincare doesn’t have to be expensive, and we love that she opts for a budget-friendly option with the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser.

For older redheads, or just those starting to show some signs of aging, Moore recommends Biologique Recherche Elastine Serum Authentique to promote collagen growth and reduce fine lines.

Next in her routine is iS Clinical Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ which helps to repair skin damage and fight any inflammation. Then, she moisturizes by mixing Environ Youth EssentiA Antioxidant Defence Creme and Environ Youth EssentiA Vita-Peptide C-Quence Serum 3. Another great product for redheads (who need a little firming and tightening) especially in the neck area is the Revision Skincare Nectifirm Advanced

Moore rounds out her skincare routine with the Hourglass Equilibrium Intensive Hydrating Eye Balm and the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar. The idea is to get everything hydrated and penetrated into the skin.

Her favorite sunscreen

Of course, as any redhead knows, you can’t skip out on the sunscreen and her new favorite is the Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+.

Redhead makeup tips

For makeup, Moore is partial to the brand Hourglass and is one of their brand ambassadors. She goes in first with the Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Liquid Foundation because she says she “likes to see the freckles and the coloring of her skin.” She also uses the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer for under-eyes.

Like many redheads, Moore has quite light brows that she admits she over-tweezed and they’re now sparse. She opts for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Mechanical Brow Pencil to fill them in. In addition to having light brows, Moore is just like the rest of us redheads with her light lashes. She says she tints them at home.

Julianne, if you’re reading this, we’d love to send you some Finally Have Brows & Finally Have Lashes — just say the word and it’s in the mail.

For lips and cheeks, Moore likes the Living Libations Maiden Fern Blushing Balm and the Olio E Osso Balm. Her color preference for makeup leans more towards the pink and berry tones rather than peachy like many redheads like. For the eyes, she keeps it simple with the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Shadow and finishes her lashes with the Dior Diorshow 24h Buildable Volume Mascara in Brown. She’s doing more of a daytime look, but says if she was going out, she might opt for a red lip like Hourglass Unlocked Red Lipstick

Rock it like a Redhead!
