Cleansing your red hair properly will completely change the hair game. It will leave your hair looking and feeling better and make it so you can go longer between washes. Do you want to know the steps to get the most out of your next wash? We’ve got you covered, redheads.
4 Steps on How to Wash Your Red Hair Properly:
Step 1: Prep your shower. Make sure you’re using warm, but not hot water. This will help to reduce frizz. Wondering what the proper temperature is? Read The Ideal Shower Temperature For Redhead Skin
Step 2: Wet hair thoroughly and apply shampoo. Most shampoos go a long way, so start with just a little and add more shampoo if the hair is longer and thicker. Make sure you lather well and scrub the roots. Shampoo is best applied to the scalp and mid-section of the head, and finish by rinsing through the ends. Double washing is a beneficial step that helps to get a deep cleanse and helps to increase the time between washes. Be sure to rinse out your shampoo completely.
Step 3: Apply conditioner to the mid-shaft of hair to the roots, avoiding the scalp (especially if you have oily hair). For a deep condition, let your conditioner sit on the hair for 5-10 minutes while you continue on with the rest of your shower. You can throw it up in a bun to keep the conditioner from rinsing out while you wash and shave. Be sure to rinse your hair in lukewarm or even cool water.
Step 4: Pat your hair dry with a microfiber hair towel or cotton t-shirt. Avoid using rough terrycloth towels and avoid rubbing to reduce frizz. Apply your products and air dry or blow dry your hair.
