How to Pick the Best Shampoo for Your Red Hair

Your Red Hair Will Thank You!

Selecting the right shampoo for your red hair can be difficult, but using the wrong shampoo can lead to lackluster hair. Here are a few tips on how to pick the right shampoo for your red hair:

1. Know your specific hair type

Most shampoos are designed for a specific hair type. Knowing what type of hair you have will help you narrow down your options. You can figure out your hair type by using an online quiz or talking with your hairstylist. Once you’ve determined your hair type, choose something specifically formulated for you.

For example, shampoo made for curly hair will help your curls be more defined and bouncy. Shampoo designed for oily hair will help to combat some of the oils without stripping moisture from your hair. Shampoo for color-treated hair will help lock in the color and avoid fading or discoloration.

2. Check the ingredients

Different types of hair benefit from different ingredients. Be sure to check out what’s in your shampoo to determine if it will benefit your hair type. Additionally, it’s good to know if the ingredients will be safe for your skin if you have sensitive skin

Some shampoos offer pH balance which helps to reduce frizz and dryness without stripping the scalp of its natural oils. This helps to lock in shine and prevent breakage.

3. Try different shampoos

If you’ve narrowed it down to a few kinds, buy a small bottle or travel size to test them out. Give it at least a week for your hair to get acclimated before you move on to the next one. If you notice your hair is feeling too dry, too oily, you’ve got flakey scalp or any other issues, discontinue the use of that shampoo and try something else.
