Today: How to be a Redhead turns 9 years old!

It’s hard to believe HowtobeaRedhead.com was born 9 years ago. As many of you know, it all started with a small blog, which turned into a website, and now a brand. This past year, 2019, has been our biggest year yet. With roughly 1,000,000 unique hits per month, hundreds of thousands of social media followers, the “How to be a Redhead” book on bookshelves since its release in 2016, the 2015 launch of the H2BAR Box — the first beauty box for redheads, several new website updates, and the 2019 release of the Deluxe quarterly H2BAR Box!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Let’s take a look down memory lane.

The top 9 moments since our launch in 2011:

1. This website 

Since 2011, we have had 9-12 website designs. Every year, we are excited to change it. The site is easier to navigate, easier to share with social media friends & easier to find ‘Redhead Friendly’ approved products and information.

2. H2BAR Podcast 

In 2018, we launched the How to be a Redhead podcast! Listen on Apple iTunes, Spotify and anywhere you listen to podcasts.

3. The monthly H2BAR Box 

When we first launched HowtobeaRedhead.com 9 years ago, we spoke about sending “red beauty boxes” to redheads everywhere. But, subscription boxes were just starting to launch. Birchbox itself launched 4 months before H2BAR! After the 2015 5-city Rock it like a Redhead beauty tour, redheads started asking us to ship swag bags to them because they couldn’t attend an event. A light bulb went off in our heads + that’s when we knew we had to start a subscription box for redheads. So, it was launched at the Seattle 2015 Rock it like a Redhead event and it has been sold out (and growing) ever since.

4. The “How to be a Redhead” Book 

The release of the world’s 1st-ever beauty book for redheads, on April 12, 2016, was a beautiful day! Redheads are now represented in beauty sections at book stores. Get your copy here. 

5. The 2015 Rock it like a Redhead Beauty Tour & The “How to be a Redhead” 2016 book tour 

We traveled to 18 cities in 24 months from 2015-2016 to meet H2BAR’s followers. It was awesome to meet everyone and see their excitement!

6. The 1st-5th Annual Love Your Red Hair Day 

November 5th is National Love Your Red Hair Day! Each year it has trended on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook! It was created by H2BAR to remind redheads everywhere to love and appreciate their hair.

7. Deluxe H2BAR Box 

In 2019, we launched the Deluxe version of the H2BAR Box! A quarterly (4X a year) beauty box for redheads! The value is $250 per box. We have since sent out two (2) Deluxe H2BAR Boxes: September and December 2019. They sold out right away and we are loving your 5 star reviews!

8. The How to be a Redhead E-commerce Store 

When we launched the H2BAR Box, so many redheads wanted to purchase the monthly products through H2BAR. And, website readers wanted to directly shop for ‘Redhead Friendly’ beauty products on HowtobeaRedhead.com. So, we launched the H2BAR e-commerce store in 2019! You can now shop for beauty products right on HowtobeaRedhead.com.

9. The New York Times + Other Press 

On Thanksgiving Day in 2014, the New York Times wrote a page long article about How to be a Redhead — and our top redhead eyebrow picks. It launched the start of every highlight we mentioned above. We are so thankful to the many editors who have written about H2BAR!

In 2020, we have SO many more things planned. We can’t wait to tell you! Thank you for following us and for your unwavering support. We love all of you. Rock it like a Redhead!
