How to be a Redhead Turns 5: The Best Moments

Just 5 years ago, we launched HowtobeaRedhead.com. It seems like only yesterday when we were sketching the logo and dreaming of plans for the future of “H2BAR”. This past year, 2015, has been our biggest year yet. With over 500,000 unique hits per month, over 130,000+ social media followers, redhead hair accessories on store shelves, the 5 city Rock it like a Redhead tour complete and the “How to be a Redhead” book coming out in April — we can only thank one group of people: all of YOU! Our loyal followers.

We love waking up each day knowing we’re empowering beautiful redheaded women throughout the world. And, we can’t wait to show you what we have in store in the future.

Let’s take a look down memory lane. The top moments since our launch in 2011 (in no particular order):

1. L’Oreal Paris Brand Ambassadors

Before How to be a Redhead was even a brand, we teamed up with the cosmetic giant for a fun 6 month campaign* in 2012. See and watch one of the videos below: maxresdefault

 

2. The 1st Rock it like a Redhead Beauty Event: March 16, 2013

We successfully premiered the world’s 1st beauty event for redheads in New York City.

3. Creation of Redhead Hair Accessories + Placement on Store Shelves

Redheads everywhere rejoiced! In 2013, we created the 1st redhead hair ties + bobby pins for redheads. Shop for them on HowtobeaRedhead.com and find them at BooksUK stores! They will be hitting USA shelves soon.

4. The New York Times

We’re incredibly thankful for the press throughout the years, including ABC News, SHAPE Magazine, Refinery29, several morning shows, countless magazines.. and more. But, waking up to the page large article in the New York Times Style Section on Thanksgiving morning in 2014 was very special. We loved the emphasis the article gave to our audience and why we’re thankful to have followers. If you missed it, read the article here.

5. Completing the 5 City #RILAR2015 Beauty Tour Across the USA

After our 2013 event, women asked us countless times, “can you come to my city?” For the next 12 months, we worked tireless to plan the Austin, Nashville, Seattle, Chicago and NYC stops. They were a complete success and every event was sold out.

6. The H2BAR Box

Since the very beginning, we dreamed about sending ‘Redhead Friendly’ approved items to doorsteps. At the Rock it like a Redhead Seattle Event on August 13, 2015, we announced news of the H2BAR Beauty Subscription Box. The first box was sent out on October 1st, 2015 and is currently sold out.

7. Creation of National Love Your Red Hair Day

November 5, 2015 is officially Love Your Red Hair Day. This day was created by How to be a Redhead to remind redheads everywhere to love and appreciate their hair. The day went viral across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

8. How to be a Redhead – The Book

The 1st-ever beauty book for redheads titled non-other than “How to be a Redhead” hits shelves on April 12, 2016. Pre-order now!
