How Redheads Can Get a ‘Healthy Glow’ Without UV Tanning

Get glowing, redheads!

Most redheads are highly susceptible to sunburns. This makes it super hard to ever get a “glow” like our olive-skinned besties. Overexposure to sun and UV rays cause skin damage and premature signs of aging. Instead, try one of these summer hacks for glowing redhead skin without the harmful rays.

Spray tan

Spray tans are a great option for those who want a true tan in the summer. The key to a good redhead faux tan is to not take it overboard. It might be tempting to get that golden bronze look but it will look out of place with your complexion and hair. Instead, opt for a light glow that’s just a shade or two darker than your natural tone.

Tip: Go to a spray tan professional because it will lead to better results than a spray tan booth or at-home spray system.

Self-tanners

If you don’t want to hit the spray tanner, or you need a little color quick, try an at-home self-tan. With self-tanner, you have a little less control over the color and it takes a little trial and error to learn the right application techniques. Find a self-tanner that goes on smoothly with a color guide and be sure to exfoliate and moisturize rough spots ahead of time. Also, make sure to always wear a self-tanning glove! It’s the secret to get an at-home application.

Tanning drops

Tanning drops give you a lot more control over your color and coverage. They are also pretty foolproof. Simply mix a few drops into your favorite moisturizer and lather up. Tanning drops are also wonderful for helping your face stay the same color as your body.

Tanning wipes

Tanning wipes are quick, convenient, leave you streak-free and if you’re an H2BAR Box subscriber, you know we love these wipes! Tan Towel is perfect for adding a little glow on the go or touching up an existing tan. Tanning wipes don’t last as long as a traditional faux tan, so if you aren’t loving the color, don’t worry it will wash off in a few days.

Body makeup

If you’re looking for a quick fix that won’t stain your skin or leave you with messy clean-up, try body oil/makeup. You can easily achieve a smooth, glowy look through properly placed makeup that will wash off daily. For full coverage try a body foundation, or add a body highlight for a subtle glow in all the right places.

Daily moisturizer with tint

Another great option is a moisturizer with a tint or shimmer. It will add just a little color to your skin while keeping it hydrated and soft.
