How Redheads Can Enhance Their Freckles Year Round

Let Your Freckles Shine!

enhance freckles

If you’re a redhead with freckles, you may have a complicated relationship with them. Many redheads don’t like their freckles when they are young but learn to love them as they age. If you’re someone who loves your freckles, you might want to enhance them and let them shine bright. It’s natural for freckles to become more enhanced in the summertime while out in the sun, but how can you help them shine in the fall and winter months? We’ve got some tips!

1. Do your skincare

Keeping your skin healthy is the best way to make it glow and let your freckles shine through. If you have blemishes or acne, your freckles might fade into the background, but keeping clear skin will help them appear more prominently.

A good skincare routine is the best way to keep your skin healthy and happy. Be sure to cleanse your face daily, remove all makeup, and moisturize. Regular exfoliation is another step to help give you healthy, clear skin. Since many redheads suffer from sensitive skin, using a sensitive skin-safe exfoliant is essential to avoid irritation. Many redheads find more luck with chemical exfoliants than physical ones, as those can leave skin raw and irritated.

2. Use SPF daily

Freckles can become more prominent when exposed to the sun, but that doesn’t mean you should skip your SPF. Wearing sunscreen daily and using proper sun protection is the key to healthy skin. Freckles covered by SPF will still get the good benefits of UV rays without all the harmful bits.

3. Don’t cover them up

Many tutorials will teach you how to cover your freckles when it comes to makeup. For redheads who want their freckles to show through, you must find your way of doing things. Here are a few tips we’ve learned over the years:

  • Opt for a CC cream or skin tint instead of a fuller coverage foundation.
  • Apply your foundation starting at the edges of your face and blending inward. This will deposit the least amount at the center of your face, where you’ll likely have more freckles.
  • Skip the foundation altogether and opt for concealer in trouble spots instead.
  • Thin out your foundation with a moisturizer for lighter coverage.
  • You can use a beauty blender instead of a brush. This will help blend the product into the skin and give more sheer coverage.

4. Apply complementary makeup

The other makeup you wear can also help to accentuate your freckles. Try wearing a subtle bronzer and some pink-based blush. These products will help the freckles to pop more. Additionally, wearing nude or pink lipstick can help define your lips without taking attention away from your skin. Wearing redhead mascara and brow gel can also give you a natural look that allows your freckles to shine.

5. Go for faux freckles

If your freckles still aren’t feeling bold enough, or maybe you’re a redhead without freckles but wish you had them…go faux! Fake freckles are super popular, and this trend isn’t just for people who don’t have freckles. Redheads with freckles can always add some more!
