How Often Should You Cut Your Red Hair?

When Should You Be Getting a Trim?

If you’ve ever heard you need to cut your red hair every 6-8 weeks, you might have been misinformed. Let’s talk about how often you actually need to cut your red hair

How often should you be getting a haircut?

According to stylists, every 3-4 months is a good time for a trim.

It comes down to your overall hair health.

The health of your hair may play a role. If you use lots of heat your red hair is likely to be more damaged and need more trimmed off. If you avoid heat, your red hair might be able to go longer between cuts. If your red hair is more prone to spilt ends, trimming every 8 weeks may help your hair look healthy.

And, the style you’re looking to maintain.

If you want to maintain your style, especially if you have shorter hair, you might need to cut your red hair more often. If you’re trying to grow your red hair out, you might want to wait a little longer between trims.

So how do you know what’s the right amount of time between cuts?

The best thing to do is speak with your hairstylist about your hair goals. They will be able to recommend how much to take off and when, and if you’re not sure or are going to a new stylist stick to the 12-week rule.
