Finding the right Halloween costumes for redheads has never been easier. Here are some fun, creative and trendy ‘redhead friendly’ costumes to rock this year with your red hair!
Groups:
Game of Thrones
The Halloween costumes for redheads are endless with Game of Thrones. But, I’ll list a few that should be fairly obvious to anyone at your Halloween party. You’ll need long red hair to pull off these looks.
Margaery Tyrell: Twist your long hair halfway back and add gentle waves. Wear a low cut green or blue gown, a crown, and be prepared to throw shade all night. Or, go for the high-sparrow version of Margaery and wear a burlap sack.
Priestess Melisandre: When she’s not naked, Melisandre is always in red gowns with big sleeves. You’ll need a metallic choker with a big red jewel to complete her look.
Ygritte: She may have been dead for a couple of seasons, but everyone will recognize you in head to toe fur, with a shocking head of red hair.
Sansa Stark: The role that put Sophie Turner on the map! Her character is known to rock wavy hair, parted in the middle. Simply pull it half-way back, wear a long gown and a cape. Add some sort of wolf-like fur shawl to complete the look.
X-Men: Apocalypse
And speaking of Sophie Turner, her other recent role as Jean Gray in X-Men: Apocalypse is perfect for a redhead Halloween costume. With the release of X-Men Apocalypse this summer, teaming up with your (non-redhead) friends to portray the X-Men is sure to be a hit.
The Gilmore Girls
If you were to ask me what I’m most excited about this Fall, other than Halloween, it would have to be the highly anticipated release of Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. This revival could not be getting more attention on social media, which means Gilmore costumes will be an inevitability this Halloween.
Although the main characters are brunettes, redheads have three very fun options:
Emily Gilmore: Wear your finest Chanel pantsuit and carry around a gin martini or cup of tea.
The racy gossip queen, Ms. Patty: Wear a long dress, colorful shawl, and bold jewelry. Be prepared to sing and dance at a moment’s notice.
Lovable best friend, Sookie: Wear a chef’s jacket, braided pigtails, and a bandana.
Orange is the New Black
With season four of Orange is the New Black‘s recent release on Netflix, you can be sure orange and khaki scrubs will be flying off the shelves this Halloween. Not only will these costumes be trendy, but there are so many fun Halloween costume options for redheads!
Red: If you’ve got short red hair, consider going as Red. Throw on a white chef’s jacket over your scrubs, hang some reading classes from your neck, put on dark red lipstick, and dark eyeliner on the top and bottom.
Sister Jane Ingalls: Carry around a Bible.
Norma: Carry around a piece of toast, and be prepared to use only sign language all night.
Frieda: Part your hair up the middle, slick it back into a low ponytail, and paint on a few tattoos.
Judy King: Curl your hair under and carry around cooking utensils.
Grease Live
Are you the only redhead in your group of friends? Perfect!
Thanks to NBC, a classic Halloween look for the whole gang has been revived. Which means that we can dress up as our favorite beauty school dropout, Frenchy. You’ll need short red hair to pull off Carly-Rae Jepson’s look and a lot of pink –– a pink blouse, pink pants, pink cardigan (or Pink Ladies jacket), and pink lipstick. Have your friends dress as other characters, like Sandy, Cha-Cha and Betty.
The Avengers
Also debuting this summer was Captain America: Civil War, so if you’re looking for more super costume ideas for you and your friends, go for the Avengers. Dress as Black Widow or the Scarlet Witch–both are super sexy and have super red hair. Hope you’re into leather.
Couples:
Jack Skeleton and Sally
The movie is not exactly circa 2016, but when it comes to Halloween, there aren’t many couples more iconic than Jack and Sally. Plus, this year, a live small stage production of A Nightmare Before Christmas was debuted at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, and the performance has already garnered over 2 million views on YouTube. This look will definitely be on trend, so if you and your beaux are into getting a little gruesome with face paint, give it a try.
Kimmy Schmidt and Titus
With the release of season two on Netflix this summer, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt costumes should be another Halloween hit. Kimmy’s look is easy: wavy red bob, colorful flowery blouse, yellow cardigan, pink pants. As for Titus, you could opt for his Ironman suit, or go the more traditional route of kimonos and flowy scarves.
Eric and Tami Taylor
If I had a boyfriend, this is definitely the costume I’d make him wear! Although it’s been a while since Friday Night Lights went off the air, the spirit of the Dillon Panthers is very much alive. FNL is still one the most-streamed shows on Netflix in 2016. Eric is easy! Get online and buy some Dillon Panthers gear, or DIY a blue jacket and cap. And as for Tami, she requires nothing more than a tan leather jacket, aviator sunglasses, a glass of white wine; and Connie Britton’s flawless strawberry blonde waves–good luck with that one!

Single: The Redhead Emoji
Since it seems that Apple is still refusing to give us our redheaded emojis, just become one yourself this Halloween! All you’ll need for this look is a pink, long-sleeved v-neck, a straight bob, and lots of attitude with your hand gestures. Or, you can make a cutout of the emoji and bring it with you.
Well, redheads, I hope this at least gets the ball rolling on costume ideas for you this year. You’ve got plenty of options to choose from, but whatever costume you decide to rock this year, remember to Rock it like a Redhead!
