Summertime is in full swing and you know what that means: sun’s out, freckles out! If you’re like me, you may have spent some of your teenage years searching for the perfect fair-skinned concealer to hide those freckles, or “angel kisses,” as my mother called them. Our freckles may have set us apart from the crowd, but who wants to blend in? Not me! Let’s celebrate our uniqueness by setting our freckles free.
Here are 5 redhead-tested products to ensure your freckles shine this summer:
1. Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30
While there is nothing dangerous about freckles themselves, the fact that we have them means we probably also have fair skin. And, if we have fair skin, then we are more susceptible to those dangerous UV rays that can cause skin cancer. It’s very important that we wear plenty of sunscreen during these summer months – especially in the areas where we are freckly.
I love that the summer sun brings out my freckles, but I don’t want it doing damage to my skin. I use this Aveeno moisturizer-sunscreen duo daily. It goes on light and does not leave my skin feeling greasy. This particular light-weight moisturizer is also fragrance-free, great for sensitive skin, and easy on your wallet.

2. Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation
This light powder foundation will eliminate shine and even out your skin tone. I prefer it to liquid foundation, which tends to go on too thick, covering all my freckles. I use this Neutrogena powder foundation year-round. I love the ‘Classic Ivory’ shade, which is a little lighter than my actual skin tone during the summer months. It blends in well and allows my freckles to peek through.

3. Maybelline Fit Me! Blush
A general rule of thumb if we want your freckles to stand out: stick to blushes in pink or coral shades. Coppers and bronzes tend to blotch our skin’s appearance and blend our freckles together rather than making them pop. These colors should be easy to find since pinks and corals are the go-to shades for summer anyway. Right now, I am wearing Maybelline’s Fit Me! blush in ‘Medium Pink’, but I also love it in ‘Medium Coral’. It’s inexpensive, so go ahead and buy both shades.

4. Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser
Summer sun causes summer sweat, which can lead to breakouts. One great thing about our freckles is that they help camouflage those unwanted blemishes, but that doesn’t mean we want to keep the blemishes around to steal our freckles’ thunder! I like this product because it helps fight breakouts without over-drying. It is oil-free, hypoallergenic, and gently exfoliates to remove the day’s grime or sunscreen residue.
And, yes, I know this is my second Aveeno product-plug, but if it’s good enough for Jennifer Aniston, it’s good enough for me. I mean, have you seen the woman’s skin?

5. Water
In the long run, the best thing you can do for your skin and your freckles this summer is to drink plenty of water. Here’s the deal: your skin is an organ. And, just like other organs in the body, it’s made up of cells. And, just like other cells, skin cells need water to survive. Dehydration can cause your skin to become dry and tight, making it more prone to wrinkling. Plus, drinking plenty of water will help rid your body of toxins, leaving your skin and freckles with a radiant, healthy glow.
These products are redhead-tested, approved, and won’t break your budget. In fact, they can all be found at your local drugstore. So, let’s put a fresh, freckled face forward this summer, and embrace another one of the beautiful things about being a redhead.
