Kate Boyer is known for her work in Hollidaysburg, Limitless, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. She isn’t just an actress, but a production assistant and stunt double. This redhead can do it all and is setting Hollywood on fire, literally! We sat down to discuss her exciting career, her beautiful red hair and top product recommendations.
H2BAR: How did you get started in acting?
KB: In a 7th grade play. I played Gertrude, a nerd with bottle glasses and three painted freckles on each cheek. I had to sing terribly, which was not a problem. The audience laughed and I felt great. Later I realized theater isn’t just for my enjoyment but shared by the writer for a message. It is a very important job to communicate these messages. It’s what helps society move forward. Knowledge is king.
H2BAR: Does red hair run in your family?
KB: Just me and my cousin Sara. We both are the only daughters from my grandmother’s only daughters. Confused? (Laughs)
H2BAR: Any redhead stories you’d like to share?
KB: I love being a redhead. No one has it! When I was a kid, there used to be a boy who would wait for me every morning at the corner of my block. He’d wait until I came out my front door with my chalk bucket and he’d scream ‘OJ HEAD.’ Then, I would drop my bucket and chase after him. I was called ‘OJ Head’ and ‘Red bull’ in high school. I had my septum pierced in high school so it was a perfect fit.
H2BAR: Can you tell us about your recent film set to release this fall, Hollidaysburg?
KB: YES! It’s a coming of age film produced by Chris Moore (Good Will Hunting, American Pie) and it’s hilarious! It’s about five friends home for Thanksgiving break after their first semester at college. It has been in select AMC Theaters and is available for rent on iTunes now.
H2BAR: Any upcoming projects for the remainder of 2014 into 2015?
KB: Not at the moment, my father just passed actually and I decided to attend the American Academy Of Dramatic Arts on their full scholarship. I’m enjoying the eight months of knowledge. I’m an addict for adrenaline but also learning. I strive to learn one new thing a day.
H2BAR: We’re so sorry for your loss. It’s always important to learn something new each day! Speaking of which, you’ve been in so many productions such as Limitless, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. What has been your favorite thus far?
KB: Funny you say that. For Limitless and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice I worked in production. When I began in film, I PA’d [abbreviation for ‘Production Assistant’] wherever I could get work. I often slept in hostels and would rotate my layers of clothes so the people on set thought I changed. I thought PA’ing was how you got in front of the camera, thats how little I knew about the film world. But I learned quick. At the time, I was attending college for photography and theater and left right before earning my Associates Degree because I kept getting calls. I then went to acting school and began working as a stuntwoman. The Amazing Spider Man 2 was a stunt job and by far the coolest to work on!

H2BAR: Let’s talk about redhead beauty tips! Your hair is so long and fabulous. What do you do to keep it so healthy?
KB: THE ONLY PROBLEM ABOUT BEING A REDHEAD IS YOU CAN NEVER FIND MATCHING COLOR EXTENSIONS! So, you’re forced to grow your hair long. I’m currently using WEN hair care. I recently worked on their upcoming Christmas commercial and they gave me their line! Perks of being a ginger. Another big reason my hair is so healthy is because of the amazing artists who take care of it when on set.
H2BAR: When going in front of the camera, do you use any particular makeup?
KB: Oh yes. I’m always experimenting. I use Makeup Forever HD. For heavy coverage on photo, I love Kevyn Aucoin. I’m raw vegan so I’m always on the hunt for natural makeup. I found a great company called 100% Pure that has great lip color, but foundation is too dry on my skin. On my natural days I mix natural almond oil with the 100% Pure foundation.
H2BAR: What is your most recent beauty splurge?
KB: The perks of being friends with makeup artists is the many discounts at outlets. Last purchase was $400. I got so excited and came home with so much glitter and nail polish. It was so much that I couldn’t fit it all in my drawer!
H2BAR: What is your favorite lip color to rock?
KB: NARS NARS NARS! The lip liner in ‘Red Cruella’ or any color in their matte lip pencil.
H2BAR: Is there one beauty item you could never live without?
KB: Eyebrows! Because everyone knows redheads don’t have them. Anastasia brow pencil in ‘Strawburn’ is great.
H2BAR: Who is your favorite redhead celebrity?
KB: What ever happened to Bryce Dallas Howard?
H2BAR: Do you have a piece of advice you’d like to share with our redhead beauties?
KB: There is a Native American saying that says, “Your face can only be seen by others for a reason.” And, redheads don’t dye your hair!
