Catherine has grown to love her red hair SO much more over the past year, because she almost lost all of it! When she was younger she was very self conscious about her pale skin; she would sit out in the sun (without sunscreen) for hours in hopes of getting tan.
One year ago, she was diagnosed with Melanoma, the doctor informed her that this was a result of intense sun damage, and she would have to undergo several surgeries and chemo, where she would loose her beautiful red hair she took for granted. After six surgeries, she was declared cancer free! She now has a large scar on her back, that will always be a reminder for her to take care of herself. Her porcelain skin is something beautiful and delicate, and needs to always be protected.
Catherine said, “Now, one year later I am more confident than ever in my own skin, and on the anniversary of being declared cancer free, I cut off 24 inches of my red hair and gave it to locks of love to make it into a wig. I have never felt this strong in my 19 years, I am proud of my red hair and the pale skin I’m in, and plan on taking very good care of it!”
