Autumn and Red Hair: Why They Make The Perfect Pair

It’s a Redhead’s World

What’s a redhead’s favorite season? It’s Redhead Season (also known as autumn or fall), of course!

With lower temps and humidity, we fair-skinned beauties can actually enjoy time outdoors, and the colors of the leaves make a perfect backdrop for our lovely red hair. The tastes and smells of autumn are delicious and inviting. There are also lots of fun activities that we redheads can participate in during this most festive and exciting season, and two of my favorite holidays take place during this wonderful time of year.

So, what are you lovely redheads waiting on? Grab a pumpkin spice latte and join me as I revel in all things autumn and red hair and find out why the two make a perfect pair. Plus, we’ll also dish about how we redheads can best rock the trends this fall!

1. Pumpkin scents galore:

How many redheads were called ‘pumpkin head’ growing up? Many! Even though the color of a pumpkin and red hair is totally different, it’s a redhead nickname none-the-less.

If you’re like me, you never let ‘pumpkin head’ ruin your adoration for all things pumpkin. I have the most amazing pumpkin-scented candle that I’ve been burning for several weeks now. It fills my house with the loveliest of all smells. Some of my favorite candles are Urban Concepts Pumpkin Chai and Yankee Candle Spiced Pumpkin.

I also enjoy the tasty pumpkin treats that are available this time of year, from coffee to ice cream to cereal and almost everything in between. When I’m feeling particularly motivated, I’ll bake a homemade pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread. As you can see, pumpkin makes me one happy redhead!

2. It’s Redhead Season:

Fall is called Redhead Season for a reason! Opportunities abound for us redheads to celebrate the season with friends. We can participate in bonfires, attend football games, or go apple-picking. I have fond memories of cooking s’mores over a campfire while singing and laughing. I remember tailgating during my favorite team’s home games and then cheering them on to victory (or nursing the wounds after a loss.) Apple-picking is an activity I haven’t tried yet, but it’s on my fall bucket list for this year. I can’t wait!

3. It’s also the start of the holiday season:

Autumn is also the perfect season because of Halloween and Thanksgiving. Who doesn’t love dressing up and pretending to be your favorite character while eating delicious treats? (Merida, anyone?) I get a thrill out of hiding behind my blanket on the couch as I watch both classic and new horror movies. I absolutely adore decorating my house for Halloween and carving jack o’ lanterns. And then the weather gets even cooler, and we shift our focus to Thanksgiving, as the fourth Thursday of November is a special time set aside during which we get to count our blessings and then share those blessings with others. It’s a beautiful time that I use to reflect on how grateful I am for all that I’ve been given.

4. Red is the primary color:

According to Who What Wear, we can expect to see lots of red this fall. That’s music to our ears! Try a red dress or pantsuit for all over red, or just add a pop of red with a pair of red flats or heels.

Also, tights are going to be big this autumn. Look for blue or green, as these colors look particularly flattering on redheads.

Graphic tees will still be trending, so be sure to wear your favorite H2BAR tee! You’ll also need over-sized sweaters and midi-skirts. Some suggested colors to try are white, blue, and green. With these redhead tips, you’ll be set for fall.

So, redheads, get ready to rock this season! It’s autumn. This is our time to shine!

Rock it like a Redhead!
