This week, we’re answering a question from Facebook that reads: “Looking for suggestions on eyeshadow colors for redheads with blue eyes, fair skin, and freckles. I have always used neutral colors like tans and browns but I am ready for a change.”
Redheads have a variety of eye colors (like any other hair color) including blue, green, brown or hazel. Blue eyes are often associated with redheads, but it ultimately depends on the genetic makeup of the individual and their family heritage. While blue eyes may be more common among redheads in some populations, others may have different predominant eye colors. That’s why we are giving some recommendations for each eye color. Red Hair + Blue Eyes: Best Eyeshadow Colors
For blue-eyed redheads, we love neutral options like a peachy tan, warm gold, copper/bronze, and champagne. Colors with orangey undertones will really make your blue eyes pop since orange is blue’s complementary color. If you want to add a bit more color, try wearing a deep blue shadow to create a monochromatic look and enhance the blue color. Pinks of all shades look amazing with blue eyes. Opt for a more cool-toned pink, or go for more of a coral pink, either way, it will look amazing.

Red Hair + Brown Eyes: Best Eyeshadow Colors
For brown-eyed redheads, some great neutral options are gold, champagne, and deep bronze. These colors will enhance the gold flecks in your eyes making them shine. For a bit more color try some deep jewel tones like plum, emerald, or a nice aquamarine. These deeper colors will enhance your eyes without making them appear too dark or colorless.

Red Hair + Green Eyes: Best Eyeshadow Colors
For green-eyed redheads, champagne and warm-toned nudes are a wonderful neutral option. We also love warm pinks, cranberries, and mauves. These warm reddish tones will make your green eyes pop since red is green’s complementary color. You can also pair different shades of green with your green eyes for a gorgeous monochromatic look.

Red Hair + Hazel Eyes: Best Eyeshadow Colors
For hazel-eyed redheads, you can pull from either the brown or green palette. Gold and bronze are amazing neutral options, as is a dark brown to enhance the green parts of your eye. When opting for pinks, greens, and purples go for a medium-toned, slightly muted color to let your eyes be the star of the show.
Red Hair + Gray Eyes: Best Eyeshadow Colors
For gray-eyed redheads, silver, deep gray, and black make great neutral options. To make the blue elements of your eyes pop, try violet, deep denim blue, or a gray lavender shade. Your gray eyes are very neutral and can rock just about any color, so play around and see what you like!
