This week, we’re answering the question: “What colors should I wear to a fall photoshoot?” Autumn is a popular time to have family, couples, and solo photos taken. Choosing the right colors for your outfit can make your red hair pop and help you look and feel your best in photos. Here are some redhead color recommendations:
1. Complement your red hair
If you want your red hair to be the star of the show, you have to pick colors that will complement it. Something to remember is that all redheads have different shades of red hair, different skin tones, and different eye colors. So we’re going to show you some colors that may complement your hair based on how light or dark it is, but you should choose the colors that you feel flatter your overall complexion and look the best.
2. Choose your color palette
When selecting a color palette for photos, it’s important to get a cohesive look. Choose a few main colors and add a few neutrals to create your palette. We’ve created a few based on the hair color palettes above to help you get the idea.
When choosing colors for a fall photoshoot, one might think they must stick strictly to “fall colors” like red, orange, yellow, and brown. While we adore these colors, which go perfectly with the fall theme, they aren’t the only options! Shades of blue, green, purple, and pink will also look gorgeous in the fall if you pair them together correctly.
3. Consider your background
Depending on where you live, fall might look different. You want your outfits to feel cohesive with the background rather than blend in. For example, if you’re in an area with vibrant fall leaves, you may opt for some more cool-toned colors to help your look pop against the warm tones. If you’re being photographed in a more neutral background, you may want to add bolder colors or some pops of color like red to give it that fall feeling. If your surroundings are pretty monochromatic, try to add something contrasting.
4. Dressing the whole family
A tip for dressing the family for photos is to mix and match your color palette. Instead of picking the same color shirt and pants for each person, mix it up. Incorporate your neutrals and make sure everyone fits the palette but isn’t too matchy-matchy.
