Are You a Natural Redhead? You Might Feel More Pain

Most redheads have heard this over and over again, “Are you a natural redhead? You might feel more pain.”

New York Post article stated, “Medical research is zeroing in on what makes redheads feel pain more acutely than the rest of us, why they’re more susceptible to developing melanoma and why they have more drug allergies.”

And.. redheads need more anesthesia, too.

It has been proven that redhead’s need larger doses of anesthesia and are often resistant to local pain blockers like novocaine. Researchers believe redheads are more sensitive to pain because of a mutation in a gene that affects hair color.

A mutation in the MC1R gene results in the production of a substance called pheomelanin that results in red hair and fair skin.”

Next time you’re at the doctors, make sure to bring up these “redhead discoveries!”

Nonetheless, Rock it like a Redhead!
