Backstage at the Novis Fall/Winter 2014 presentation, Antoinette Beenders, Aveda Global Creative Director and Janell Geason, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Makeup created hair and makeup looks that complemented the graphic, bold shapes and earth tones in the collection – inspired by expressionist art. For hair, Beenders created effortless structure and a delicate braid detail that took hair away from the face. “This is a great look with young, funky texture that suits the lovely structured clothes,” said Beenders.
See how to get this beachy look in 5 easy steps:
Step 1: Start by spraying Aveda Pure Abundance Style Prep into dry hair and rough blow dry in to create texture and to plump up the hair. Wrap hair around curling iron as needed to create varied, unstructured waves throughout hair.
Step 2: Create a dramatic side part on the left side of head and puff Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion in to the root area in the front to naturally bulk up and thicken hair.
Step 3: Begin to gather hair just above the left ear and create a hidden braid underneath – taking hair away from face.
Step 4: Create another braid on the right side of the face just above the right ear and attach the 2 small braids in the back of head with an elastic. Cover the elastic with a portion of hair from the crown so only the right braid is visible.
Step 5: Finish with a firm hairspray to make sure the hair stays in place.
