Thousands of redheads gathered at the annual Redhead Days Festival in Tilburg, Netherlands, from August 23rd to August 25th. Redheads traveled from near and far, some spending more than 24 hours on public transportation to attend. Since 2007, the festival has drawn a large crowd of redheads together to celebrate the one thing they all have in common…red hair. The festival was started by accident when festival director Bart Rouwenhorst was looking for 15 redhead models for an advertisement shoot and ended up with 150. The models were all asked to gather for a group photo, and it felt like a “huge family gathering.” A follow-up gathering was planned and had over 500 attendees. In 2015, the Guinness World Record was broken for most redheads in one photo, with 1672 gingers in attendance.

Possibly the most anticipated group activity is the group photo on the festival’s final day. Like a large family reunion, each festival has a themed color for attendees to wear. This year, the color was a redhead favorite..green! The festival is open to redheads of all ages and welcomes many families and children. The next Redhead Days Festival will take place the last week of August 2025.
Rock it like a Redhead!
