There’s nothing worse than curling all your red hair and having your curls fall out an hour later. If your hair doesn’t hold a curl well, locking in your curls or “setting” them is a great way to keep your curls looking amazing for hours on end. One of the best ways to lock in curls is by using rollers. Here’s a quick how-to so you can start setting your curls.

Step 1: Curl your hair
First, you’re going to curl your red hair like normal with a curling iron. As you drop each curl you will want to secure it in a roller and keep going. This is to get the curl set in place while it cools.

Step 2: Use different sizes
For big bouncy curls or long hair, use larger rollers, for tighter curls or short hair, use smaller rollers. The larger the rollers the more body the curls will have.
Step 3: Roll from the bottom up
You want to roll your curls from the ends up in the same direction you curled your hair (away from the face or towards the face).
Step 4: Lock it in place
Use large clips to keep the curlers in place. Then, use hairspray once the curlers are in or once you’ve taken them out. If your hair doesn’t hold a curl well you might want to apply it both times.

Step 5: Let it set
You want to leave the curlers in for about 10-15 mins. A great way to ensure you have enough time is to do your hair and then do your makeup while your hair cools.
Step 6: Remove the curlers
To avoid tugging or frizzing the hair slowly unroll the hair through the end. If you want to keep more shape to the curl you can unroll just a little until you’re able to twist it down in a curl motion.
Step 7: Style as needed
Now you can style your curls however you like. Twist them around your fingers, comb them, apply hairspray and move them around until they sit how you like.
