As the co-founder of How to be a Redhead, I am constantly testing and trying products. But, I have my staples. My go-to’s. Take it from me, maintaining your redhead skincare routine is the key to a healthy, glowing complexion and this starts with your morning regimen. Prepping your skin for the day sets your skin up for success, but there is no “correct” skincare routine you must follow. It’s all about finding what works for you and your skin. Just remember: your morning redhead skincare routine is just as important as your evening routine.
You may notice the products are pricey but there’s a reason for this. They are the most effective skincare products to help with brightening, repairing, and correcting.
Here is my 8-step skincare process I wake up to every morning and it’s categorized in the order I use them:
Step 1: Cleanser
PCA Skin Creamy Cleanser, $31
I’ve been a huge fan of this cleanser for about a year now. It’s gentle, creamy, and hydrating. It doesn’t strip my skin of its natural oils and never gives me that tight-cheek feel. It works with my redhead skin.
Step 2, 3 + 4: Serums
PCA Skin Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum, $115
Another PCA Skin product! I’m slightly obsessed with this hyaluronic acid serum. It has truly transformed my morning skincare routine with its hydrating benefits that penetrate below the skin’s surface. Apply 1-2 pumps on your skin before continuing with the rest of your products.
PCA Skin Brightening Serum, $115
I have a ton of freckles on my face but as I have aged, what use to be cute little freckles, is now deep pigmentation. I know a lot of redheads understand this, so I had to shed light on this product. I recently tried it and really noticed a difference in my skin discoloration (from the sun) and redness. I sometimes mix 1-2 pumps in with my hyaluronic acid — almost creating a cocktail-like formula.
Revision Skincare Vitamin C Lotion, $122
Vitamin C is so good for your skin. It’s also why we featured Vitamin C serums in monthly + Deluxe H2BAR Boxes! I use this product only in the morning. This Vitamin C contains THD Ascorbate 30%, a powerful form of Vitamin C.
Step 5: Eye Cream
Farmacy Cheer Up Cherry Vitamin C Eye Cream, $45
Some suggest applying eye cream right after cleansing. However, I prefer it after my serums but before my moisturizer. Tip: The skin around your eyes are super sensitive! Gently pat using your ring finger to delicately apply the product.
Step 6: Moisturizer
Reviva Labs Coconut Charcoal Moisturizing Day Crème, $13
I started using this product about two months ago while we were testing it for an upcoming H2BAR Box. It was just featured in the past August monthly H2BAR Box. It’s hydrating and goes on very smoothly. Just remember to really blend in the charcoal beads.

Step 7: Oils
Leven Rose Jojoba Oil, $9 or Bambu Earth Repairing Facial Serum, $68
Yes, you’re seeing this right. I apply my oils after my moisturizer but before my sunscreen. I’ve experimented with this over the years and have found this works best for me. To apply, warm a few drops of oil in your palms and pat lightly over your face.
Step 8: Sunscreen
Belli Pure Radiance Tinted Facial Sunscreen SPF 30, $24 or Thinksport Everyday Face Sunscreen Naturally Tinted, $30
Always end your morning skincare routine with a protective facial sunscreen. I’ve been loving these two tinted sunscreens featured in past H2BAR Boxes. They give protection while adding a natural tint to the skin.
