QUESTION: First of all, I’d like to say I wish I’d stumbled upon this website when I was 14. In the last week, I have had a million “why haven’t I thought of that?” moments. I am 21 and have struggled with problematic, red sensitive skin and can never find the right shade of red hair (my hair is naturally strawberry blonde, but I switch it up with different reds). I am looking for a shade of red that doesn’t enhance my red skin, but compliments it. Any advice ? Please help! -Alison
ANSWER BY: Rona O’Connor: Dear Allison, I can relate! For your situation, choose red colors with more natural undertones to the red. In other words, more brown or auburn; something that has a grounded tone to it. Try to stay away from bright, light ruby undertones or fiery coppers as they will enhance the red in your skin. Stick with cooled reds with blue undertones if you want to try a brighter look. One other option: try adding natural red highlights to your natural hair. Good Luck! -Rona
