Going on a little summer redhead getaway to rejuvenate, relax and rest (aka “the triple R”)? It’s important for our skin, red hair and overall well-being to take a breather.
Whether you are heading out for the weekend or a week-long trip, it’s important to pack your favorite ‘redhead friendly’ beauty essentials. No one wants to be ‘that person’ wasting precious vacation time to shop for beauty items left at home. Plus, the chances of finding your favorite products in the nick-of-time is slim to none.
Here’s a quick checklist of what to pack when you’re getting ready for your next summer redhead getaway:
1. Sunscreen
This is especially important if you’re jet-setting to a tropical island or exotic retreat. ‘Water resistant’ and ‘broad spectrum’ are two key phrases to look for on the bottle of sunscreens (yes, plural) you end up taking with you. This will be an easy product to replace if you end up running out.
Try: BU SPF 30 Ultrafine White Sage Sunscreen Travel Size [as seen in the H2BAR Box!]

2. Surf Spray
A great product, and you’ll love it even more if you’re a low-maintenance redhead. You simply wash, spray and go. It’ll make your red waves stand out, especially in the humidity. It’s also wonderful to have great hair in seconds without being cooped up in the bathroom with hot styling tools for hours at a time.
Try: Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray
3. Accessories
Redhead elastics and bobby pins are going to be hard to find on your next redhead getaway, so it’s very important to pack a few extra — just in case one or more get lost while snorkeling or swimming with the dolphins.
4. Nail Cuticle Oil
A cuticle pen is easy to stow away in your toiletry bag and helps to protect your prune nails if in the water for a long period of time. And, since redheads have thinner skin than most, you might notice a hang nail-or-two when away from home. Simply apply and let dry for 1-2 seconds.
Try: L’Occitane Nail and Cuticle Shea Oil
5. Makeup Wipes
Talk about easy and quick. Makeup remover wipes make it easy for you to get ready to explore the day or gear up for a great sleep. Choose a hydrating wipe so it won’t dry out your skin.
Try: Kleenex Moist Facial Cleansing Wipes [as seen in the H2BAR Box!]
6. Hairspray
A little travel-size hairspray is always a good idea. It will tame any frizz and have you looking oh-so-beautiful.
Try: L’Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold Travel
7. Dry Shampoo
Who wants to wash their red hair every day while on vacation? Opt for a ‘redhead friendly’ dry shampoo like this one to give your red hair some life.
Try: R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo Travel Size
8. Razor
Tiny razors are easy to pack in your makeup bag and essential to have because everyone wants silky smooth skin on a trip.
Try: Venus Snap with Embrace Razor in Cosmo Pink
9. Sheet Mask
We always recommend traveling with this ‘redhead friendly’ easy-to-pack mask. You can apply for 5-10 minutes before getting ready, or leave on for a little bit longer if you’re planning on having a relaxing night.
Try: Miss Spa Best Sellers Facial Sheet Mask Set, Hydrating, Brightening, Rose Stem Cell, 24K Gold Glowing Skin [as seen in the H2BAR Box!]
10. Face Oil
Another product that can be travel size so it doesn’t take up much room in your bag. Apply throughout the day in order to fight dehydration on the beach, or morning and night before SPF.
Try: Leven Rose Jojoba Oil [as seen in the H2BAR Box!]

11. Lip Balm
We like making sure our lip balm carries SPF for extra, extra protection. Toss this in your beach bag or clutch to hydrate your lips all day long.
Try: Aquaphor Lip Repair + Protect SPF 30 Lip Balm
12. Brush
We all like loose beach waves, but not when they are all tangled. Brushes can be a burden to pack, but not when they are small and efficient!
Try: Tangle Teezer The Original Detangling Hairbrush Blueberry Pop
13. Face Lotion
If you’re flying this summer, toss a 3oz size or smaller container of face lotion in your carry-on in order to fight dry, dull skin. Apply throughout your flight and walk off with gorgeous, glowing skin.
Try: DERMA-E Hydrating Day Cream with Hyaluronic Acid [as seen in the H2BAR Box!]
14. Body Oil
Just like lotion, body oil is super moisturizing. Spritz directly on your skin after getting out the water. Add a sufficient amount inside a travel-size empty container to avoid bringing the entire bottle.
Try: Neutrogena Body Oil Light Sesame Formula, Fragrance-Free
15. Sunless Tanner
An essential product if you want to show your friends ‘I can tan, too’ without the harmful, damaging sun rays. We recommend applying this right after showering and shaving.
Try: St. TROPEZ Self Tan Bronzing Mousse
