Meet the Founders
Adrienne and Stephanie are sisters and co-founders of How to be a Redhead (known as H2BAR), the lifestyle brand for redheads. As authors of the “How to be a Redhead” beauty book and the How to be a Redhead beauty line, you might have also seen them on ABC’s Shark Tank (Season 15, Episode 14) where they landed a deal with Mark Cuban.
Their Story
Born natural redheads, they struggled to fit in growing up and had trouble finding ‘Redhead Friendly’ Approved® products because most items caused their skin to irritate or break out. Many makeup consultants at department stores shied away when they would ask which mascara or blush worked their unique complexion. When Stephanie was a teenager, she went blonde to blend in with the rest, and it took seven years for her to realize that red made her look and feel the best.
They took it upon themselves to test and try different products and loved expressing their fun redhead personalities with fun pops of color in their wardrobe. When they discovered mascara could coat their blonde lashes and brow products could fill in their transparent brows, they will never forget how beautiful they felt. The discovery of streak-free instant tan, products that beautified their frizzy hair, natural-but-fabulous bronzers, and lotions that didn’t irritate their sensitive skin — was revolutionary.
Over the years, Adrienne and Stephanie have learned to master all complementary redhead techniques. Since there wasn’t a place for Adrienne and Stephanie to turn for advice, they created HowtobeaRedhead.com in 2011. Featured products on HowtobeaRedhead.com have been tested on a redhead for at least 10 days and receive the ‘Redhead Friendly’ Approved® stamp of approval. Adrienne and Stephanie hope redheads can take a sigh of relief knowing there is finally a community that provides top lifestyle advice for redheads while also providing an outlet for empowerment and confidence.
The redhead sisters have coined “Rock it like a Redhead” as the tagline for their blog posts and social media photos to proclaim the importance of rockin’ red hair with certainty and spunk.
Since its launch, HowtobeaRedhead.com has been recognized by the world’s top news outlets, including The New York Times, Refinery29, ABC News, and most recently, Shark Tank. This powerhouse duo are also the authors of the 2016 publication “How to Be a Redhead,” which can be found in Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and directly on HowtobeaRedhead.com.
The sisters also launched a new seasonal H2BAR membership for their redheaded customers. “It’s amazing to provide a beauty service like this for redheads,” says Adrienne. “Stephanie and I always wished we had this growing up, and it’s a joy to curate it for redheads.”
The How to be a Redhead beauty line is now available and continues growing. Redheads are rejoicing with the Finally Have Brows series, the Finally Have Lashes mascara series, a shampoo in the Finally Glossy line, and much more. Shop here.
Adrienne (2009) and Stephanie (2011) Vendetti both have a B.A. in Business from the University of Miami. If you’re wondering, they’re sisters, not twins.
