The #1 Summer Hair Tip Every Redhead Should Know About

During the warmer months, a redhead’s hair usually gets lighter with blonde streaks. Some just assume this “must” happen because it’s the summer time or perhaps you’ve tried every sunscreen hair product and it just isn’t enough to keep your vibrant red hair from fading. To solve this issue, we spoke with Scott Fontana, celebrity stylist, owner of Cristophe Salon Newport Beach who offered this one bit of advice that had us all thinking, “Why didn’t we think of that?!”

“If you don’t mind your hair being a bit greasy and weighted down, spray sunblock on it, the same sunblock you use on your body and preferably organic, ” says Fontana. “That is the best way to protect red hair from the sun. If you don’t like the feeling of sunblock on your hair, wear a hat whenever you’ll be in the sun. Although hair products may contain sunscreen, it’s never enough to fully protect the hair.”
