New year, new you! This new year is a great time to refresh different portions of your life. Revamping your wardrobe can significantly impact how you and your red hair looks and feels. Doing a wardrobe overhaul can feel overwhelming, so we’re here to walk you through the process, give tips, and help you have your best year:
1. Do inventory
It’s hard to know what you need without knowing what you have. Complete your closet inventory and write down what you’ve got. You might notice you have a lot of one-color or multiples of certain items. This will also help you spot any gaps in your wardrobe. Once you know what you’re working with, you can get down to business.
2. Find inspiration
Before you start purging your closet or go on a big shopping spree, try to narrow down what you want. You’ll need to figure out what your style or desired style is. Using inspiration can be helpful in this process. Consider starting a Pinterest board and adding all the outfits you like. Then, go through and see what those looks have in common. You’ll probably gravitate toward specific colors, silhouettes, or fabrics. Looking up other redheads on social media can also be a great way to see what colors and patterns may flatter your hair.

3. Things to consider
Now, it’s time to be a little practical. The aesthetics we see online may not always translate to our actual lives, so there are a few things to consider. What is the climate like where you live? What is your body type? What do you do daily? Does your work or daily activity require any specific attire? From here, you can figure out ways to incorporate the styles you like into practical everyday outfits.
4. Out with the old
It’s time to start getting rid of things. Go through all your clothes and figure out what you need to keep, what you want to keep, and what might work with the style you’re going for. Basics like jeans, plain colored t-shirts, a little black dress, and undergarments are usually pretty universal. You may also want to hold on to items you will wear for special occasions, or that hold sentimental value. Anything you don’t like, doesn’t fit, has stains or tears, or doesn’t fit the style you’re going for should be in the get rid of pile.
5. Sell, gift or donate
If you’re getting rid of many items, don’t toss them in the trash! If items are in new or like-new condition, you could consider selling them online or gifting them to a family member or friend who could use them. You should also consider donating items in good condition to local thrift stores or charity programs. Torn or stained items should be tossed out or repurposed as rags.
6. Find your palette
Now it’s time to add some new items to your wardrobe. Before shopping, consider the gaps in your closet and your color palette. Redheads can rock any color, but we have a few “best” colors to help bring out our hair and eyes. You can get a color analysis done to help you determine your best colors, or try looking for one that flatters your hair and eyes and makes your skin look bright and glowy.
7. Be bold
Redheads are notorious for sticking to the neutrals. There’s something about having vibrant hair that makes us shrink back from color. 2025 is your year to be bold, so try a new color or pattern you wouldn’t normally. Slowly adding pops of color to your wardrobe will help you ease into it, and you may find a new style you like.
8. Incorporate new pieces
Mix and match your old favorites with your new pieces to slowly bring your style to life. Revamping your wardrobe doesn’t mean a complete change in one day. Collect pieces slowly over time to curate your look.
