7 Ways Adult Redheads Can Dramatically Increase Their Self-Confidence

In honor of #LoveYourRedHairDay celebrated annually on November 5th!

We talk a lot about increasing confidence in young redheads because unfortunately, they are often the ones being teased and bullied. For most of us, the love we have for our red hair comes as we age, but having confidence at any age takes time and practice. We’re here to talk about the 7 ways adult redheads can increase their confidence in their red hair, but let’s first discuss why this is so important:

1. Improved Mental Health: Higher self-confidence is often linked to lower levels of anxiety and depression, promoting better mental well-being.

2. Enhanced Performance: Self-confidence can boost your performance in various aspects of life, such as work, relationships, and personal goals.

3. Better Decision-Making: When you trust your abilities, you’re more likely to make decisions and take risks that can lead to personal and professional growth.

4. Stronger Relationships: Confidence can help you communicate more effectively and form healthier relationships.

5. Resilience: Self-confident individuals tend to bounce back more quickly from setbacks and challenges.

6. Increased Motivation: Confidence can drive you to pursue your goals and aspirations with determination.

7. Overall Well-Being: Greater self-confidence can lead to a more fulfilling and satisfying life.

Boosting self-confidence is a valuable goal for personal growth and happiness in adulthood. Now, let’s see how we can do it:

1. Follow inspirational redheads

If you’re on social media, follow inspirational or influential people, especially redheads. Sometimes it takes seeing someone else be confident to be able to be confident yourself. If you aren’t on social media, try finding some books, blogs, or videos featuring confident redheads. We also have a plethora of confidence-boosting articles right here on HowtobeaRedhead.com.

It may also be helpful to tune into our “Redheads on the Streets” series. A new episode drops every Thursday on @HowtobeaRedhead social pages. It’s important for you to see how many redheads love their hair — but it may not have started that way:

2. Unfollow negative people

Are you following accounts that you often compare yourself to, or negatively impact your self-esteem? Unfollow them! You’ll be surprised how good it feels to remove those negative thoughts just by removing those people from your (online) life. And just because someone makes you feel self-conscious, doesn’t mean they are a bad person or make bad content. It is important to protect your peace.

3. Try not to compare yourself to others, especially other redheads

In that same vein, try not to compare yourself…period. It’s so easy to slip into thinking that others are doing better, looking better, and feeling less than.

And, it’s important to not compare yourself to other redheads. You might see another redhead on the street, TV or socially and think, “Oh, their hair is a prettier shade” or “Their freckles are better than mine.” Don’t do this. Everyone is on their own journey and you can’t compare

4. Surround yourself with positive people

Your friends and family love you and think you are amazing! Surrounding yourself with people who are uplifting and make you feel good is a great way to boost your mood and your confidence. If someone in your life isn’t a positive impact, try to keep your interactions with them limited.

5. Write down all the things you love about yourself

You are so special, and you offer so much value. Think of how you would talk to a friend, how you would compliment a friend, and do that for yourself. Write down things you like, both physical and not, to keep as a reminder.

6. Step out of your comfort zone

If you feel like you’re lacking self-confidence, sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone. Maybe you want to try a new style or get that haircut you always wanted. Or, maybe you need to try an activity you’ve never done before.

7. Practice self-care every single day

Self-confidence and self-love come from within. You have to build that foundation inside yourself for it to show outwardly.

Rock it like a Redhead!
