It is true: redheads CAN wear red. Many think red hair and red clothing clashes, but I beg to differ. It has become one of my favorite accent colors. It not only adds a pop of color to a look but brings out your own personal boldness by drawing the parallel to the red of your hair. You are basically saying, “I have red hair and I’m proud of it.”

Through my recent excursions into the world of red accessories, I have found the best ways and products (all redhead approved) to pump up confidence and accentuate (not clash with) one of your greatest features which should be celebrated – your red hair.

Here are some ways to incorporate red into your redhead life:

1. Lips:

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink in Globetrotter

This burnt orange, red lip color not only lasts through a Cajun boil or summer BBQ, but it doesn’t dry out your lips and is a bold way to own your own personal coloring. It was made to be rocked by a confident redhead.

L’oreal Paris Infallible Long Wear in Continual Crimson

A drugstore option for a non-matte, classic red lip. This red is deep but not purple and bright but not orange. It’s a perfect balance and can be built up to be darker or lighter. It really does last, which is amazing, but be careful when applying if your skin is on a fair side. This stuff does not budge once it dries! It’s a long-lasting buy and the two-step process really makes your lips feel so happy!

2. Heels:

Everlane Day Heel in Bright Red

Hold the presses –– we have a real miracle here. A comfortable pair of heels! These classic, poppy red shoes with an orange undertone are not only eye-catching but incredibly comfortable. Redhead skin is sensitive all over and if yours is anything like mine, finding any heel which is comfortable to wear without chaffing my heel off is a miracle. The comic book red of these shoes harkens back to a simpler, classic time and will never go out of style.

3. Dress:

Lulus Pearson Short Sleeve Lace Cocktail Dress

This is the showstopper. A good red dress is powerful on anyone but on a redhead? Unstoppable. This dress is well proportioned and lighter in person than how it appears online, making it perfect for spring and summer nights. Dress it up with nude heels and a blazer or down with gladiator sandals and a jean jacket.

4. Nails:

OPI Big Apple Red

This is a versatile classic red that’s perfect for long or short nails, warm or cool undertones. You can wear it throughout the year, no matter the season, and looks stunning paired with gold jewelry.

5. Hair Accessories:

DONNI. Coco Silk Headband

Summer is the perfect time to break out your redhead bobby pins and hair ties. Pair those must-have redhead accessories with a vibrant silk headband. This will make your red hair pop EVEN more.

Go out there this summer and show the world that you aren’t afraid to be loud, proud and red!
