Maybe you want your red hair ready to go with minimal effort when you wake up, or maybe you’re having a great hair day and want to preserve some of the style. Here are a few tips to keep your red hair looking great overnight.
1. Invest in your pillowcases
One of the reasons you wake up with tangled, frizzy hair in the morning is because of your pillowcase. Invest in a silk or satin pillowcase to keep your hair from getting frizzy and knotty. Silk and satin allow your hair to slide easily without creating static.
2. Put your red hair up
If your hair is long enough to put up, do it! Gather your hair at the very top of your head and gently pile it into a single loop bun as close to your forehead as possible. Avoid securing the bun with an elastic, as this can cause unnecessary damage and breakage. If you need to secure your bun, try a satin or velvet scrunchie.
3. Wrap your head
If your hair won’t go all the way up, or you’ve got lots of curly hair, try wrapping it in a silk or satin scarf while you sleep. This will help protect the hair and keep the curls intact.
4. Braid your red hair
If you want to wake up with great hair that has body and texture, try braiding your hair before bed. Braid all the way to the very bottom of your hair and avoid using elastics or hair ties – similar to #2. Brush out in the morning and style as needed.
5. Brush your red hair before bed
Brush or comb your red hair before going to bed. The strokes will help move your scalp’s naturals oils and get your red hair ready for bed. Use a wide-tooth comb with natural bristles.
