Winter is here! Each year I notice my red hair and skin starts to dull. The cold air lacks humidity and without it, our skin and hair can dry out. It’s a recipe for disaster when you add brisk wind and heat styling to the equation.

If you’re like me, then you hate when your red hair lacks shine and vibrancy. Here are my five must-haves for winter skin and hair I personally use:

1. Invest in a good facial moisturizer

I have fallen in love with Clinique’s products after switching up my skincare routine. Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion tackles my normally dry skin without any residue. My skin feels super hydrated and has a nice glow thanks to this miracle in a bottle.

2. Don’t skimp on the sunscreen in the winter

I’m serious, redheads! Not only do we need it, but so does everyone else. Although the sunburn causing UVB rays are weaker in the winter, the UVA rays are still strong. I switched to mineral sunscreens this past summer and it was such a great decision! I did a lot of research and Sun Bum just won over everything else. One of the complaints about mineral sunscreens is they’re so thick and hard to rub in. I found Sun Bum to be super easy to apply. Sun Bum Tinted Sunscreen Facial Lotion not only works great as a sunscreen but also as a primer! Double win.

3. Opt for full coverage foundations for extra moisture

Since I have dry skin year-round here’s another Clinique win. I prefer a full coverage foundation, but the trick is finding the right product because you don’t want to clog your pores or cause more dullness. An Ulta makeup consultant recommended Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer because not only does it provide full coverage, but it’s also moisturizing. It’s super lightweight and I only need a small amount to get the look I want.

4. Invest in a deep conditioner

Moving on to hair, I don’t heat style my hair often. Despite that, my hair still gets dry in the winter. It’s A 10 Miracle Hair Mask Deep Conditioner is PERFECT for dry or damaged red hair that needs some TLC! This was also featured in the H2BAR Box. I use it about once a week in the shower. After shampooing, I’ll slather a good amount on my hair and cover it with a shower cap, leave in for 10 minutes, and then rinse. The container lasts a long time.

5. Boost your red hair and skin with an oil

I love OGX Nourishing Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist for my hair. Just a few sprays and it leaves hair super soft with a beautiful shine. For my skin, opt for a facial serum like Fleur and Bee Vitamin C (found in the Deluxe December H2BAR Box) and simple jojoba oil for the perfect glow.

Take care of your winter skin and Rock it like a Redhead!
