Sunless Tanner Tips for Redheads

The one thing that many redheads are noticed for besides their fiery manes are their perfect, pale skin. A lot of times they can be so pale that it’s almost impossible to tan in the sun without getting completely sunburnt first and then getting tanned (if they’re lucky, that is). Also, forget about going tanning artificially. The UV rays are never good for anyone’s skin and spray tans from salons make us look like we played in the orange paint most of the time and never come out in the right shade—not to mention they can streak very easily and are can get expensive.

What you don’t want to happen is to look so tan that it takes away from the red color of your hair, or look like you have a completely unnatural skin tone. If you really want to get some color, there are plenty of ways to get a subtle hint of a tan so that you’re not going overboard and you can easily control how much color you’re looking to get.

In addition, these products are not extremely expensive so you don’t have to worry about budgeting every week to afford being tanned. For redheads, subtle tans always end up working best.

1. Tinted Moisturizers:

Depending on how much you put on and what shade you buy, tinted moisturizers can help a great deal in achieving a bit of a darker complexion than what you’re usually used to. I use a tinted moisturizer and it definitely makes a difference. Whether it’s a BB Cream or just a normal facial or body moisturizer they can definitely give off a subtle glow. The other great thing about tinted moisturizers is that you’re in full control of how tan you want to be.

2. Bronzer:

A really great way to give our faces a natural-looking glow (as long as you don’t over apply, that is.) When it comes to bronzer, less is definitely more and if you have pale skin you definitely want the lightest shade available. Contouring is also key so that it blends in with your complexion as well as other makeup you may be wearing.

3. Liquid Self-Tanners:

Lastly, liquid self-tanners are a great and an obvious way to get a tan without dealing with harmful UV rays. However, be very careful when using these types of products. Many tend to be very runny and can sometimes streak easily if you’re not careful. They can also make you look very dark fast if you don’t apply it sparingly.
