5 Last-Minute Thanksgiving Beauty Tips For Redheads

How to stay relaxed and cool during the hectic holiday season:

Thanksgiving is such a warm holiday, even if it does occur in the colder part of the fall season. Most of us look forward to things such as family, friends, good food, great football, parades, laughter, and fun for all. The fact that our red hair usually matches the pumpkin pie for dessert doesn’t mean we can always roll with the punches. We can get tense too.

The best beauty tip for redheads during this time of year is to focus on a few small, important things to keep yourself calm, cool and (redhead) collected.

Here are 5 more beauty tips for redheads before the Thanksgiving festivities begin:

1. Take some time for yourself.

The weather can be harsh on the skin due to colder temperatures, inside heat and dry air. The best Thanksgiving skin treatment is to take ½ cup of pumpkin puree (purchase a natural mixture) and mix it with a 1/3 cup of a virgin, cold pressed coconut oil and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.

After showering with body wash, massage the pumpkin body mask generously into your skin. After 10 minutes, rinse completely with warm water then pat dry. The pumpkin is stocked full of antioxidants, beta carotene, vitamins and anti-inflammatory benefits. The coconut oil not only moisturizes but helps to exfoliate dead skin cells. The cinnamon helps to increase blood flow, and… well… just smells good. This body mask is inexpensive to make and all ingredients are available at your local market.

2. Don’t stress about your red hair.

Don’t fuss! Make use of dry shampoo for that instant volume and “clean” look. My favorite is Paul Mitchell Dry Wash Shampoo Then, throw it up in a neat up-do without a fuss. A great hairstyle idea is the rope braid:

After Thanksgiving is complete, if you have extra of the pumpkin body mask from above, leave it in your hair for an overnight conditioner.

3. Keep hydrated + wash hands often.

People will be coming and going all day. There will be endless hugging, kissing and shaking hands with all of your guests. Not to mention, germs will be exchanged on door handles, TV remotes, phones, serving spoons, you name it. Keep hydrated, wash your hands often with anti-bacterial soap and keep a pocket hand sanitizer nearby. Try CleanWell Botanical Foaming Hand Sanitizer.

4. Be comfortable.

Your job duties for the day could be extensive: chef, maid, hostess, waiter, waitress, chauffeur. You want to look nice, but not wear anything too fancy that can get messy or destroyed during the day. Personally, I think this is the perfect occasion to break out a pair of neat, clean, dark wash comfortable boyfriend jeans. For prep work in the kitchen or even pre-dinner cleaning, a loose-fitting t-shirt or tunic would be perfect too. When it comes time for dinner, switch out the casual top for a slightly nicer sweater or long top. Make sure your feet stay comfortable too since you will be on them.

Also remember that a redhead’s body temperature changes quicker than other hair colors, so be prepared with a scarf and cardigan.

5. Relax and enjoy!

It is a documented fact that redheads are more sensitive to pain. When you have a house full of people, running around doing a million things at the same time, sipping wine here and there, it is very possible that you may find something hurting or aching by the end of the day. Try and watch your alcohol and/or caffeine intake. Remember: for every one glass of coffee or wine you have, chase it down with a bottle of water.

Last but not least, Thanksgiving is a time to do just that: give thanks. In between the hustle and bustle of the day’s events, take a look around and smile. Be thankful for all you have with you that day. Life can pass you by really fast so take some time to stop and smell the pumpkin pie. And while you are at it? Say “thank you” for being a redhead. You are one of the rarest breeds of people there are. It’s a fact: you are special just for being you.

Rock it like a Redhead!
