Learning to Love the Ginge’
How do you not let [redhead] bullying bother you? How do you embrace who you are inside and out?
By Andrea H.
Redheads are fewer than 1 in every 120.
It seems as though now, more than ever, kids are getting bullied for pretty much everything under the sun. Not surprising, “gingers” receive a huge amount of teasing.
Many redheads hear from family and friends, ”Plenty of women would die for the hair color” or “Men love redheads.” And even though it is true, there seems to be an upsurge of redheads attempting to alter their appearance to make an effort to not stand out.
So, how do you make it easy? How do you not let bullying bother you? How do you embrace who you are inside and out?
Love yourself. Take care of yourself, body and mind. Sometimes a step towards taking better care of yourself is as easy as finding hobbies that you love, picking up an enlightening book, taking a yoga class and going out with friends. Once you start taking care of yourself, learning to love yourself becomes oodles easier.
No matter how much you hope and pray, you”ll always look like YOU and deep down, you’ll always be a redhead. And there is nothing wrong with being a redhead! In fact, it is beautiful.
How can you make it easier for other redheads?
Be a proud example. Compliment a redhead on their hair or freckles; If someone makes a ginger joke, refrain from getting offended; If you can see someone’s true red roots growing in under all the hair dye, ask them why they choose to dye their hair. What could go wrong? You might just help them change their minds.
In the end, if you’re bullied, laugh at it. Be the bigger person. Love yourself.
Rock it like a Redhead!
