BURN 100 CALORIES IN LESS THAN 8 MINUTES!

Jump to a red hot body as your clock springs forward!

Provided your joints are all in good shape, jumping rope is the most efficient and cost effective way to get in your cardio workout.  It’s easy to do anywhere, even on a business trip.

For less than $20, you can get yourself a weighted jump rope (so your arms get a workout as well).  I like to do intervals for maximum burn.

Start your first session by warming up for 5 minutes to get your girlhood rhythm back.

Then,  jump for 10 minutes, doing 1 minute of jumping followed by 30 seconds of rest.

As your endurance improves, work up to a 20 minute session, where you still warm up for 5 minutes and then jump for 3 minutes followed by 30 seconds of rest, and repeat.

Important Reminder:

-Be sure to stand tall and engage your abs. This also helps protect your lower back and knees.

-It’s recommended you jump on the balls of your feet and land softly, only bringing your toes 1 inch off the ground.  As always, be sure to wear good cross-trainers and a sports bra.

-Manufacturers design their sports shoes to “wear out” after 6 months whether or not you ever put them on your feet!
